Obviously, single parenting can be very stressful at times. To make my life more hectic, I also work as a paediatric nurse in ED. I have a great family and work support network and want to show my daughter you can do it all with or without a partner.

I would love to meet more friends and have play dates with Scarlett and others. My house is always open for a brew and chat.

Since I was a young girl, I always knew I wanted to be a mum but because I am Asexual  I knew I would never have a partner to have a child with. For that reason, I decided to go it alone and conceived my daughter. She is my best friend and my absolute world. Choosing to become a mum was the best decision I  made and I am so lucky to have such a close family by my side to help raise her.

Hey I'm Sam from Wakefield. I work in Adult Social Care and mum to my 4-year-old daughter. I enjoy walks, reading, drinks with friends when I can get a night off. It's the same with going to the cinema, beach trips with my small human and adventures.  Life as a mum is a constant juggling act. It can be very isolating, repetitive and regimented, which I never was before children.

I wanted to be a mum for so long and the reason for doing this solo was I wasn’t about to wait any longer to become a mum because I might never have been one. It’s like spinning plates with work full time. Now I am a member of  RFY, we have meets to keep us sane and my friends with kids are also in the same position so we help each other. I’d never grumble about my role as a single mum but I make sacrifices daily and now she’s older I’m working on finding me again as I’ve lost me over the years. I love that I have no one to answer to but her. She gets me and I get her, and we have an unbreakable bond but the challenges we face we always face together. I may be a parent but she’s also my best friend.
